A Francesco – Trailer from Xenia Productions.
To Francis . Debuted nationally in Genoa, Italy, in October 2011 to significant public success in the beautiful setting of the former Monastery of the Clarisse and replicated in Bologna, Venice, and La Spezia. The Liguria Region, Province of Genova, and the Families of the Franciscan Order – in partnership with the Jurij Ferrini theater company – came together to produce the multimedia theater show entitled “To Francis”, celebrating the 800th anniversary of the lives of Francis and Chiara of Assisi. A true multimedia event that brings together elements of cinema, theater, and narration. Playing the part of the main character, Francis of Assisi, was Daniele Gatti, the creator of the project; on stage alongside Gatti was Carlo Orlando (co-author) and Sarah Biacchi. An groundbreaking story making for an emotional result.
The work, co-written by Danielle Gatti and Carlo Orlando, is based on Franciscan sources and introduces Francis as very real and down to earth. It is an innovative work, not just displaying the life of a saint, but sharing Francis’ story in a real way that connects with us all, from youth to adults, believers to non-believers, with special attention to the theme of poverty, more relevant than ever in this modern age of global crisis.
